In Murayama region, you can see the museum of Mokichi Saito; Japanese poet of Kaminoyama city and Zao peaks from the top of the hill. There are numbers of ski resorts around Zao mountain, and winter festival is held in the beginning of February. kajo park is a popular sight for cherry blossom now, where once was a Yamagata castle built by Yoshimitsu Mogami during late Sengoku period. Hanagasa festival will be held in the beginning of August.
There is Rissyaku temple in a suburb of Yamagata city, which is popular for Haiku of Basyo Masuo, Janaese poet.

Summer:Hot. Visiting hamlet is recommended.

Yonezawa Beef:As known as "Matsuzaka" of the west, and "Yonezawa" of the east.
Imoni:One of the local dishes of Yamagata which beef soup and taro roots are boiled and seasoned together.
Soba:Buckwheat noodles.
Cold ramen:Yamagata is the birthplace for cold ramen; the chinese noodle.
