About Mount Gassan

♦Known as a place for mountainous religion and also for summer skiing.
Its height is 1984m above sea level, which is the dominant peak in the range among three dewa mountains.
The area gets crowded with people enjoying summer skiing and mountain climbing during summer seasons.
Visitors can drive from the foot of the moutain till the 8th stage of Gassan.
It takes about 2 hours and half to get to the top of the mountain by promenade.
360 degrees panorama view overlookinh the sea of Japan and Zao is worth watching.
Opening between July and September 15h, and summer ski season is from April till the end of July.

Sightseeing in Yamagata
Spring:Cherry blossoms are at their best from April.
Summer:Hot. Visiting hamlet is recommended.
Fall:Beauty of the leaves when turned in autum. Imoni festivals everywhere!
Winter:Freezing cold with snow, and the trees will be coverd with them and ice.
Snow:Cold, but not as delicous as shaved ice.

La France pears:The queen of the fruits is also Yamagata's best production.
Yonezawa Beef:As known as "Matsuzaka" of the west, and "Yonezawa" of the east.
Imoni:One of the local dishes of Yamagata which beef soup and taro roots are boiled and seasoned together.
Soba:Buckwheat noodles.
Cold ramen:Yamagata is the birthplace for cold ramen; the chinese noodle.
