Sightseeing in Shonai
When Mogami river shoots the rapids of Mogami gorge, there planted the Shonai Plain.
The harbor town Machida city is at the mouth of a river, and there are many sights at the port such as marine museum, Ken Domon memorial museum, and the old house of Honmas; one of the greatest landowners of Japan. The castle town Tsuruoka city is in the south of Hirano, where there are Chido museum displaying the historical buildings, and also Han school (educational institution in the Edo period).
Mount Chokai rises to the north of Hirano, then Mount Haguro, Mount Tsuki, and Mount Yudono to the southeast.
