Yudagawa hot spring
Yutagawa hot spring is located 9km southwest of Tsuruoka station. Yutagawa hot spring is a quiet hot spring town surrounded by mountains with wooden cozy hotels. It used to be a spa for Syonai feudal retainers. It used be called "Shirasagi no yu", or egret bath since the legend says about 1300 years ago, an injured egret healed its wound in welling hot water there.
For a long time, Yutagawa hot spring is called "Tsuruoka no okuzashiki", or a rear room of Tsuruoka, with about 10 hotles surrounded by bamboo and Japanese apricot forest.
Yutagawa hot spring is one of the best three hot springs in Syonai area.
