Akayu hot spring

Akayu hot spring is on old hot spring located in the eastern town of Akayu station.
It is north edge of the Yonezawa basin, and the north is coverd with a low hill.
About 900 years ago, Yoshiami, the younger brother of Taro Hachiman had a revelation of Kusakari Hachiman and discovered the hot spring. It is said that the hot spring healed the wounded soldiers, and their blood colored the water coloer into ruby red. That's where the name of Akayu hot spring came from. Grape orchard spread out on the periphery.
There are both traditional hotels of old construction and modern style hotels in the area.
There are five common bath including Towanoyu and Eboshiyu.

Cold ramen:Yamagata is the birthplace for cold ramen; the chinese noodle.
