About Karamatsu Kannondo
♦Red colored temple dedicated to the Kannon standing on the cliff.
This is a fifth of 33 Holy Kannon temples where amulets may be offered.
The temple was start building in late Heian era, and completed in Edo era by imitating Kiomizu temple in Kyoto.
Present beautiful temple with white and red colored wall was re-built in 1976, and it prefectly matches with colorful seasonal sceneries. You can see the whole Yamagata urban district from the temple.
